Deanna Loh
AMFT #158709
I’m Deanna (she/her), a trauma-informed, somatic psychotherapist offering therapy sessions to teens, adults, and couples in California. I identify as a second-generation Chinese-American cis woman, and bring these perspectives and my own exploration around how intergenerational trauma and multicultural factors intertwine into my work with clients.
I understand the importance of creating space for all parts of our identities to show up in the room, and welcome individuals from all walks of life. I have worked with folks from a range of backgrounds, including those from BIPOC, immigrant, ENM, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Clients describe my presence as warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental. I believe psychotherapy is a collaborative process to support your goals in self-exploration, healing, and growth, and I will meet you where you are in your journey. I integrate cognitive, somatic, and emotional approaches based on your needs and preferences.
For individual therapy clients, I draw heavily from Hakomi, a mindfulness and body-based approach to support you in exploring experience. I also incorporate attachment styles, parts work from internal family systems (IFS), and skill-building from dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). For couples therapy clients, I also incorporate processes from emotionally focused therapy (EFT) and communication frameworks from nonviolent communication (NVC).
